  • Chrome Cyo Senso Plus 60 Lux
Description
Incorporating IQ technology the Cyo N Plus offers a very bright homogenous light housed in a compact robust housing. The high output LEDs temperature is kept in check by distinctive cooling fins. It has a stand light. The Alu look is great for retro styled bikes

For use with hub dynamos only
Key Features
B&M have made two core models - with and without an integral reflector.

The model with the integral reflector (a German legal requirement for front lights) has 40 lux output and 'near light' This is where the light begins immediately in front of the wheel rather than the usual few feet in front.

The second model has 60 lux output with the light beginning a few feet in front of the bicycle. It does not have an integral reflector - hence the light output is brighter. This model is available in the UK
Specifications
  • Standlight
  • On off switch
  • Automatic sensor
Mounts

How To Recognise A Good Head Light
Illumination levels of headlights can be measured using different units - e.g. Lux or Lumen. B&M states the light output of headlights using the unit Lux. A Lux value provides the illumination level in relation to its distance from the light source. It is exactly this relation which is a deciding factor when considering a headlight, because it states the amount of light on the road. The value Lumen in turn states how much light exits the headlight at the light source, no matter if the light shines onto the road or is lost as stray light. That is why this value as excellent as it might sound can be very misleading

However even the Lux value provides only partial information about the out put of a headlight. Also important is the quality of the light field which is created on the road. Its width and depth; its light quality that is both homogenous as well as comfortable to look at with the human eye and its Lux values does not say it all. And finally its glare free light/dark boundary are all qualities that cannot be stated using just measured data. What is important is how and what the rider can see for safer more comfortable riding

It is notable that some manufacturers cite "visibility from x metres" as a means of evaluating headlamp quality, a rather meaningless value. There is no objective measuring method and the safety gain is only an individually perceived factor because it implies ideal conditions (i.e. no interfering light, "clean" air, unhindered visibility, universally identical abilities of human eyesight ...) that in reality do not exist. That is why B&M forgoes quoting a value that they consider useless and that only feigns objectivity. The most relevant question is this: Is there any real value in being seen from a distance of 1000 metres?
IQ Technology
    IQ Technology: The Light Revolution

The core of IQ-TEC is the revolutionary idea not to use a high output LED as an indirect light source. The complete reflective surface is used to focus and guide the light. If one looks into the reflector of an IQ headlight one only sees the metalised surface. Once the headlight is turned on what takes its place is "nothing but light". Since 2007, B7Ms innovation has continually been developed further.

Conventional technology: A light source sits in the centre of the reflector. The result: stray light and loss of efficiency.

B&M have developed state of the art technology called "IQ2 TEC" and "IQ-TEC PREMIUM". In comparison with the first IQ generations, the new IQ-TEC versions offer double the light output and an almost twice as wide, very extensive field of light. Everybody who has cycled with an IQ TEC headlight at night will never again want to do without this light experience
