    Here is the upgraded Ixon Core Flash. This model not only incorporates IQ2 technology, light at close range and a fantastic quality and depth of light for road or track it also now has additional flashing signaling LEDs to be seen with. It is environmentally friendly and uses rechargeable batteries. The Ixon IQ Core utilises a new radically designed special reflector with an integrated cooling system. The white light comes from a high powered LED that is used as an indirect light source creating a uniformly illuminated output which is very bright, wide and homogeneous. The lux output is measured at a point on the road 10 metres from the headlight. Charging is via USB for convenience. Supplied with a universal mounting bracket to fit all standard handlebars. It is easy to remove with one click

    IQ2 Technology

    Launched in 2013 IQ2 technology utilised in the Luxos front lights raises the standards yet again. This technology is now also available in the IXON Core. This means that the quality of the light that you see with is dramatically enhanced. The depth, intensity and purity of the 'white' light is impressive and the actual light field is twice as wide as previous LED headlights. What does this mean for the rider? Basically you can see more clearly over a bigger, wider area than ever before. IQ2 has been designed with a new light and reflector

How To Recognise A Good Head Light
    Illumination levels of headlights can be measured using different units - e.g. Lux or Lumen. B&M states the light output of headlights using the unit Lux. A Lux value provides the illumination level in relation to its distance from the light source. It is exactly this relation which is a deciding factor when considering a headlight, because it states the amount of light on the road. The value Lumen in turn states how much light exits the headlight at the light source, no matter if the light shines onto the road or is lost as stray light. That is why this value as excellent as it might sound can be very misleading

    However even the Lux value provides only partial information about the out put of a headlight. Also important is the quality of the light field which is created on the road. Its width and depth; its light quality that is both homogenous as well as comfortable to look at with the human eye and its Lux values does not say it all. And finally its glare free light/dark boundary are all qualities that cannot be stated using just measured data. What is important is how and what the rider can see for safer more comfortable riding

    It is notable that some manufacturers cite "visibility from x metres" as a means of evaluating headlamp quality, a rather meaningless value. There is no objective measuring method and the safety gain is only an individually perceived factor because it implies ideal conditions (i.e. no interfering light, "clean" air, unhindered visibility, universally identical abilities of human eyesight ...) that in reality do not exist. That is why B&M forgoes quoting a value that they consider useless and that only feigns objectivity. The most relevant question is this: Is there any real value in being seen from a distance of 1000 metres?
